Portimão is the main hospital centre in the Western Algarve, which means that a significant share of requests is related to continuity of care after discharge from Portimão Hospital or private healthcare units in Alvor: surgical wound care, removal of stitches or staples, administration of prescribed medication and recovery monitoring at home. The older population in the urban area represents another significant source of demand.
Alvor and Praia da Rocha also have a large number of foreign residents and long-stay visitors, generating demand for occasional interventions during their stay. Care is available in Portuguese and English.
